Last weekend Aaron’s friend Bubba Blackwell arranged for our fearless leader to grand marshal the American Flat Track race out at Texas Motor Speedway.
The atmosphere at the track was electric. Aaron made his way through the pits and paddock areas looking at all the bikes, stopping when someone would recognize him to take a selfie or sign a hat. He made his way over to the Indian trailer and got to finally see the bike he would be doing his parade laps on in the flesh. After a pretty serious briefing from the team about how this is a full race bike not to lean on it too hard. (It was at this point that Aaron put their fears to rest by telling them he’d never flat tracked before. /sarcasm)
Aaron and Indian tech made their way to the track, the announcer announced AK and he took to the track, going fast but not getting too wild with it. After he completed his laps he made it way to the interviewer to be broadcast on the track’s screens. The interviewer presented him with a trophy for being the Grand Marshal (and for bringing the bike back in one piece) to which Aaron replied, “Oh wow, you’re giving a trophy to the slowest guy on the track!”
Thanks for having us out there, AFT. We’ll see you next time.
